Meet the Fletchers - Chest 1

This chest of drawers contains works by artists who participated in USAC’s summer seminars at Calvin’s invitation, who were his colleagues in the USAC art department, or who were influential figures in the broader US art scene during the 1930s and 1940s. Calvin, and to a lesser extent, Irene, adopted these artists’ methods as they modeled modernist art for their students and the Cache Valley public. This grouping of artworks also provides context for the Fletcher family’s production, demonstrating the trends popular across the US at mid-century.
