This landscape shows the cliffs around Silver Reef, a ghost town and former silver mining community in Washington County, Utah. Silver was found in this area in 1866, and within the next fifteen years the community swelled to over 2,000 people. A fire and declining silver prices at the end of the century gutted the town, and the mines were largely abandoned.
