Clark was born in Ogden and raised in Cache Valley, Utah. He graduated from USU in art and continued his education in photographic advertising at the ArtCenter College of Design in Los Angeles, returning to USU in 1963 to organize the school’s photography program. Clark was drawn to Utah’s national parks; here he captures the whimsical rock formations of Bryce Canyon, heightening the mystery of the scene by shooting through a hazy sun which blends the colors of the rocks and trees like a watercolor.
