Andrew Watson’s Bowl, made shortly after he completed his master’s degree at Utah State University, is a curious wheel-thrown vessel made of unglazed white porcelain. The large-scale piece has an exaggerated form, with a widely stretched belly that curves back to an opening at the rim. The function of such an unglazed bowl remains elusive. Perhaps this obscurity is Watson’s intention, meant to provoke the viewer to ponder the purpose of everyday objects and how we interact with them.
