Moser arrived in the United States from Switzerland at the age of 12, emigrating with his family to Utah where they eventually settled in the Cache Valley. He studied art at USU (then Utah State Agricultural College) before returning to Europe to further study painting in France. Logan Canyon and Bear Lake were frequent subjects for Moser; this is one of at least four paintings in NEHMA’s collection to depict a view of the lake. Moser preferred saturated colors, making his scenes are especially vibrant and lively.
