Dale’s oeuvre oscillates between abstract and hyper-realistic modes. This pen-and-ink drawing highlights his careful attention to detail. The boy in the center of the image is Dale’s son, thus continuing the family tradition of representing family members. Dale also drew his sons in their grandmother Irene’s strawberry patch and in other natural settings.
