Here, Dale paints a lush glade under the canopy of a stormy sky. The naturalistically rendered plants in the foreground contrast with the threatening clouds in the back to make this rather unremarkable landscape feel auspicious. Adam-ondi-Ahman is where Latter Day Saints believe Adam, the first man, lived after being cast out of the Garden of Eden. The location is also significant in LDS teachings as a final gathering place for the faithful before the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. This choice of subject demonstrates Dale’s early interest in integrating spirituality into the fine arts.
