This vessel exemplify signature features of Edward Eberle's work including influences from ancient Greek pottery. This vessel features a dog figure enclosed within concentric circles of black parallel lines. Eberle’s decorations are typically created using terra sigillata painting and sgraffito techniques on porcelain.

Born in Tarentum, Pennsylvania, in 1944, Edward S. Eberle earned a bachelor’s degree from Edinboro State College, Pennsylvania, in 1967 and an Master of Fine Arts degree from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, New York, in 1972. From the mid-1970s until 1985 Eberle taught at the Philadelphia College of Art and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, before dedicating himself fully to studio art. Eberle passed away in 2023.
