By using clay as her primary medium, Kwong feels that she is able to bring a sense of tactility, life, and motion to her artwork that cannot be achieved through any other media. Kwong notes that her work often combines Eastern and Western artistic styles. She is particularly influenced by the Chinese philosophy of yin and yang, and often uses her work to juxtapose opposites, such as the microscopic and cosmic, the imagined and the real, and the personal and the universal.
