CJ Jilek is an alumnus from the USU ceramics program, from which she graduated with an MFA in 2010. Now based in California, Jilek is an avid traveler and her trips greatly inform her work. She is particularly interested in the natural world and incorporates the native flora and fauna of each place she visits into her work. This piece is from her ongoing sculptural series Biomorphic Forms, which depicts abstracted flowered blooms. Its title, Cross Pollination #8, reminds us of the importance of pollination in food production and increasing the yield of crops.
