The founder of this museum, Nora Eccles Treadwell Harrison, is a relatively unknown figure in the history of ceramics in the United States, and yet her impact was immense. Though all of her work is small in scale, Bottle reflects her developing skills. This petite porcelain bottle was made around 1960. It is an advanced form that balances the centrifugal force necessary to create the tiny opening while leaving enough clay available for a full rim. Ironically, this dainty bottle represents the height of her skills, not in inches, but in form and design.
