Triesch Voelker

American, b. 1957

Exhumed From Memory
1990

Earthenware
12 x 34 x 23 in.
Gift of Ernie and Edie Schwartz

This piece, as were most of my pieces from this time period, was inspired by my brother’s 7-year journey through his AIDS experience and the process for me to make sense of it. The boat image and the water covering the face were meant to reference passage as in one’s life, and the eyes are an element of living and being aware.
