Markus Urbanik

Urbanik was raised in Wyoming about three hours northeast of Logan. He attended Northwest Community College in Powell, WY, prior to completing his BFA in 2001 at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. His MFA from Utah State University was completed in 2004. For two years Urbanik was Facilities Director at Watershed Center for The Ceramic Arts, Newcastle, Maine, then ceramics instructor at Central Wyoming College, in Riverton, Wyoming. In 2010, he was Facilities and Programming Coordinator for Red Lodge Clay Center in Red Lodge, Montana. Throughout these work experiences he taught a lot of classes, including various local outreach programs. He also conducted many workshops and classes in kiln construction (down draft, train, catenary arch, sprung arch, and bourry box).
