John Bernhardt

American, (1921–1963)


JohnBernhardt was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1921. He attended the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center, the John Herron Art Institute, and Columbia University. After graduating, he became an Instructor of Drawing and Painting at the University of Texas, Adelphi
College, and “The Contemporaries” Gallery Workshop . He founded a gallery in Santa Barbara named Gallery 8. His artwork is exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and the Tobey C. Moss Gallery in Los Angeles. He died in Santa Barbara, California in 1963.
