June Wayne

American, (1918–2011)


June Wayne was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1918. She had her first show at the age of seventeen at the Boulevard Gallery in Chicago. With the start of WWII, Wayne moved to Los Angeles to learn production illustration at the California Institute of Technology. She opened the Tamarind Lithography Workshop in 1960 in Los Angeles (its currently located in Albuquerque, New Mexico) and became a research professor at the Rutgers Center for Innovative Print and Paper. Wayne died in Hollywood, California in 2011.
