American, (1862–1965)
Ella McBride was born in Albia, Iowa in 1862. She received a teaching certificate and taught in Portland, Oregon before becoming the principal of the Ainsworth School. McBride moved to Washington in 1907 to work in the Curtis Studio. Eight years later she opened her own studio and worked there until 1953. McBride died in Seattle, Washington in 1965.
