Francisco Zuniga

Costa Rican/Mexican, (1912–1998)


Francisco Zuniga was born in Guadalupe, Barrio de San Jose, Costa Rica in 1912. In 1936 he studied at Escuela de Talla Directa in Mexico City and later took a faculty position there as well. Zuniga is known for both his painting and individual exhibitions that included the Bernard Lewin Gallery in Los Angeles in 1965 and at the Museo de Arte Moderno in 1969. He founded the Sociedad Mexicana de Escultores. He lived for more than 50 years in Mexico City, Mexico and died there in 1998.
