Marion Hyde

American, (1938–2025)


Marion Roundy Hyde was born in Tremonton, Utah on August 26,1938. Hyde graduated from Box Elder High School and received an athletic scholarship to play football at Utah State University. Hyde was fortunate to study under three prominent Utah artists: Harrison Groutage, Everett Thorpe, and Gaell Lindstrom. He graduated USU in 1962 with a BFA and 1969 MFA. Hyde taught art at his high school after receiving his BFA until he finshed his MFA where he was offered at teaching position in USU's art department. He was the department head from 1984-1996. He retired from teaching in 2002. Hyde continued to create paintings, drawings, and prints up until his death on January 9, 2025.
