American, b. 1956
Born in Oklahoma in 1956, Casebeer’s career as a functional potter and educator has spanned continents and decades. After receiving a BFA from Wichita State University and an MFA from Alfred University, Casebeer spent thirty-five years as the associate director and artistic director for ceramics at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass, Colorado. He has worked as a pottery consultant for the government of Germany and the United Nations, while providing outreach for ceramists in Nepal, Chile, Hawaii, and Jamaica. Casebeer believes that ceramics “can bring some sense of joy or beauty into people’s daily life,” by simply being “present with you when you get up in the morning and have your tea or coffee.”
