American, (1929–2017)
Edwin Mieczkowski was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1929. He attended the Cleveland Institute of Art and Carnegie Mellon. He taught at the Cleveland Institute of Art while simultaneously maintaining a studio in New York City. He was part of the artist group Anonima, which became part of the Op Art movement which is a distinct style of art that creates the illusion of movement. Mieczkowski died in Newport Beach, California in 2017.
