American, (1918–1979)
Charles W. White was born in in Chicago, Illinois in 1918. He became interested in art at the age of seven when he received his first oil paint set. He attended the Chicago Art Institute on a scholarship. White taught at Hampton Institute in Virgina until he was drafted in 1943. He contracted tuberculosis and moved to Los Angeles inhopes that his health would get better. He continued painting until his deathin 1979.
