Native American, b. 1942
Archuleta is a member of the famous Tafoya family of potters. She was a pivotal figure in the San Juan Pottery revival movement of the 1970s. This movement began in the 1940s when only fifty-nine potters were practicing the style. By the end of the 1950s, that number had decreased to only eight women. Archuleta was an instrumental figure in continuing these traditional forms.
