American, (1927–2019)
Tony DeLap was born in Oakland California in 1927. He attended Claremont Graduate School, Academy of Art, San Francisco, the Menlo Jr. College in Menlo Park, and the California College of Arts and Crafts. DeLap taught at the University of California, Irvine, the San Francisco Art Institute, the University of California, Davis, Claremont Colleges, Scripps College, University of Wisconsin, the California College of Arts and Crafts and the Academy of Art. His work has been shown across the globe and is held by many famous institutions, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Museum of Modern Art, and the Tate Gallery, London.
