Suzanne Caporael

American, b. 1949


Suzanne Caporael was born in New York in 1949 and grew up in California and received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from Otis College of Art and Design (1977 and 1979). Her debut as an artist was when she was 35 at the Newport Harbor Art Museum in 1984. She also worked as a visiting professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara and the San Francisco Art Institute. now lives with her husband, novelist Bruce Murkoff, on a farm in Stone Ridge, New York. Caporael is known for her minimalist paintings involving simple colors and geometric shapes.
