American, (1920–1980)
Joseph A. Cain was born in New Orleans, Louisianna in 1904. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Art Students League in New York. After graduation he became a Professor of Art and the University of Rhode Island. His artwork has been exhibited at the Smithsonian Institute, the Museum of New Mexico, and the Cleveland Museum of Art. He died in Fairfield, Iowa in 2003.
