Jann Haworth

American, b. 1942

After growing up in Los Angeles and graduating from UCLA, Jann Haworth moved to England in 1961, just missing Andy Warhol’s inaugural exhibition at the Ferus Gallery in Los Angeles in 1962 titled "32 Campbell’s Soup Cans." However, by that time Haworth was already ensconced in the British art scene, taking art history classes at the Courtauld Institute of Art and studio classes at the Slade School of Fine Art, all the while bucking the scene by experimenting with materials associated with being female, like fabric, latex, and sequins.

Today Haworth is based in Salt Lake City, which arguably makes her one of Utah’s most important living artists.
