John Wehrle

American, b. 1941

John Wehrle born in San Antonio, Texas, received his B.A. from Texas Tech and his M.F.A. from Pratt Institute in New York. He served in Vietnam as a combat artist, executing works that are now in the Smithsonian's Army Historical Division. In 1973, he spent a year in Montana, where he decided to become a muralist. He lived in Los Angeles between 1977-79. Wehrle currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area where he is both a muralist and a studio painter.
