Kershisnik traveled with his family for his father’s work as a petroleum geologist and lived in Angola, Thailand and Pakistan. He graduated from high school at the International School of Islamabad, and then pursued a bachelor’s in architecture at the University of Utah. He later transferred to Brigham Young University, Provo, after returning from an ecclesiastical mission in Denmark, and began studying art, eventually graduating with his Bachelor of Arts in 1988. Continuing his education, Kershisnik earned a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Texas, Austin, in 1991. Kershisnik currently lives and works in Salt Lake City, Utah.
