Norman Zammitt was born in Toronto, Canada in 1931. He attended Pasadena City College in Pasadena, California and the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles. His schooling was interrupted by the Korean War and he was enlisted in the Air Force as an aerial reconnaissance photographer. Zammitt taught at the University of New Mexico, the University of Southern California and the University of California at Los Angeles between the years of 1963 to 1971. He died in Pasadena in 2007.
