Jack Troy

American, b. 1938


Born in Towanda in 1938, Troy currently lives in Pennsylvania. He wrote two books, Salt-glazed Ceramics, 1977, and Wood Fired Stoneware and Porcelain, 1995, as well as many articles on different ceramic topics, with particular focus on the wood firing process. Troy is a dedicated teacher. He taught at Juniata College, Pennsylvania for thirty-nine years and has given hundreds of lectures and workshops. Parallel to his career as a potter, Troy is a writer and recently published a new collection of poems, his exhibitions sometimes include poetry readings.
