American, b. 1941
Tony Berlant was born in New York, New York in 1941. He attended the University of Southern California and the University of California Los Angeles. After graduation, he taught art at the University of California, Los Angeles. Berlant was a founding member of Mimbres Foundation which attempts to protect vulnerable Mimbres sites and has created a photographic archive of all known Mimbres figurative pottery. His artwork has been exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Los Angeles Art Gallery, and The Contemporary Museum in Honolulu, Hawaii. He currently resides in Santa Monica, California.
