American, (1915–1985)
Arthur Rothstein was born in Manhattan, New York in 1915. He attended Columbia University. He worked for the United States Army as a photographer in the Signal Corps. After beingdischarged Rothstein became a chief photographer for the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration, documenting famine due to the Great Depression. He rejoined Look Magazineas Director of Photography. He remained atLookuntil 1971 when the magazine ceased publication. Rothstein joined Parade magazinein 1972 and remained there until his death in 1985.
