Francis Porter Riggs

American, b. 1922


Francis Porter Riggs was born in Glouchester, New York in 1922. He attended the Pratt Institute in New York. He became a teacher at Brigham Young University part-time while also pursuing a career in contemporary sculpture. He received an award from the Lieutenant Governor at her second annual invitational Art Exhibition held in the Capitol Rotunda. His work is exhibited throughout the US, Sweden, and Japan. After residing in Utah, Riggs returned to Glouchester, New York where he died in 2016.
