Joe Ray

American, b. 1944

Joe Ray was born in Alexandria, Louisiana in 1944. As a child he attended classes at the John Herron Art Museum. He attended the University of Southwestern, Louisiana, Lafayette and the California Institute of the Arts. Ray was part of California’s Light and Space movement. His work has been exhibited in the Los Angeles CountyMuseum of Art; Museum of African American Art, Los Angeles ; Jack Tilton, New York; Roberts & Tilton, Los Angeles; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. He currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
