American, (1919–1992)
Robert Ormerod Preusserwas born in Houston, Texas in 1919. He attended the Chicago Institute of Design and the Los Angeles Art Center School. Preusser started his career as a faculty member of Glassell School and served as a co-director for the Contemporary Arts Museum. He was a professor at the University of Houston and an Associate Curator of Education at the Museum of Fine Arts. He left Texas to teach at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His work has been exhibited all across the country including in the Whitney Museum of Art in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, and the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, Massachusetts. Preusser died in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1992.
