Gronk Nicandro was born in Los Angeles, California in 1954. He attended classes at East Los Angeles College. He was the artist-in-residence at Fullerton College, and the University of New Mexico. Nicandro helped found art organizations like Asco(a Chicano art organization) and the Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions which helped bring awareness to art in Los Angeles. His work is exhibited in art institutions across the United States including the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
