American, (1902–1984)
Ansel Adams was born in SanFrancisco, California in 1902. After visiting Yosemite National Park, he found his passion for photography and nature conservation. He exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. In 1933 he opened his own art and photography gallery in San Francisco, California. Ansel and Willard Van Dyke founded Group f/64 for photographers and Friends of Photography, a non-profit organization to promote photography. He diedin Carmel, California in 1984.
