Scottish, (1925–2015)
Joseph Maxwell, Scottish landscape painter. He studied at John Cass College in London (1946-7), and at Edinburgh College of Art(1947-50). He was elected as member of the R.S.W. in 1960, as the organisation's youngest member. Five years later, he became a member of the R.G.I.In 1978, he was one of only ten exhibitors at the Royal Academy in London to be invited to the Musee du Louvre, to show at an exhibition the following year. A touring exhibition of France followed, and he was awarded the Diploma of Bilan de l'Art Contemorain.
