Stanton Macdonald-Wright

American, (1890–1973)

Stanton Macdonald-Wright was born in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1890. He attended the Sorbonne, the Academie Julian, the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, and the Academie Colarossi in Paris. While he was there, he created a form of art style called Synchromism meaning ‘with color.’ Macdonald-Wright taught at the University of California, Los Angeles and had studios located in Kyoto, Japan and Florence, Italy He died in Los Angeles, California in 1973.
