In 1966, Suzanne Klotz received a BFA in painting and printmaking from the Kansas City Art Institute before moving to Texas where she received an MFA from Texas Tech University in 1972. After completing her MFA, Klotz began a 35-year-long academic career where she took teaching positions at a number of high schools and universities in Arizona, California, Texas, and Utah. In 1990, Klotz spent three months in South Australia where she was an artist-in-residence and arts consultant for the South Australian Aborigines at an Australian Aboriginal Center. Klotz also worked at several Palestinian refugee camps where she taught art workshops. She would later go on to arrange exhibitions featuring Palestinian artists in the United States.
